Shove Council Discusses Community Building

As usual, Shove Council enjoyed delicious food and discussion this past Wednesday. The group meets the first three Wednesdays of every block. On Wednesday, March 8, President Dick Celeste and Shove Council participated in the dedication of the labyrinth outside Shove Chapel.

New Weekly Service Open to All

Corbin Hillam, Colorado College’s famous chalk artist, is starting up a weekly Compline service. Compline is the liturgical end of the day. The service will consist of silence, worship, and icons. It is not affiliated with any particular campus group, and there is no sign-up sheet. Services will take place on Thursdays in Shove Chapel from 7 to 8 p.m. Hillam said founders of Compline, “have a very simple vision of all the Faith groups coming together to worship once a week.”

Spiritual Life Hosts Spread the Light

The Chaplain’s Office ended the semester by hosting an Interfaith Holiday Party in Worner on Saturday, December 17. Several groups brought food and set up arts and crafts tables in Worner, representing their religious traditions during the holiday season. Candles were also available in Shove throughout the night for those wishing to say a prayer or have a moment of silence.

Shove Council - Multifaith Buffet

Interfaith Prayers for Peace Service

On Sunday, September 11, 2005, at 4:30 PM in Shove Chapel there will be an interfaith Prayers for Peace service. Speakers from three faith traditions (Jewish, Islam, Christian) will reflect on their understanding of the holy call to peacemaking and lead us in prayers for peace. Participants are Rabbi Irv Ehrlich, Temple Beit Torah, Colorado Springs; Imam Ibrahim Karazooni, Director of the Abrahimic Initiative, Denver; and The Rev. Dr. Laura Mendenhall, President, Columbia Theological Seminary, Decatur, Georgia. Refreshments following the Service. Call the Chaplains Office x6638 for more information.
