Dates, Rates, and States

Integrated Solid Earth Sciences announces the 2008 topic of Dates, Rates, and States for the annual graduate summer school in Colorado. The interdisciplinary course will focus on the rates at which tectonic processes occur, the dates that constrain those rates, and the implications for deformation, erosion, magmatism, material properties, etc. (states).

Student Poster Session

A student poster session will be held Sunday through Tuesday during the Summer School. Posters should be prepared to fit within an area 4 x 4 feet (122 cm x 122 cm) in dimension.

The submission deadline for abstracts will be announced after the selection process is completed. Abstracts will be posted on the Summer School website.

Guidelines for abstract preparation and layout are as follows.

  1. Space/length allocation is one page at U.S.A. "letter" dimensions of 8.5 x 11 inches. Set margins to 1 inch (2.24 cm) on all sides.
  2. For all text, please use Times New Roman font.
  3. For title text settings, use 14 point bold type, centered. If more than one line of type, space at 1.5 line spacing.
  4. Author(s) and affiliation(s): use 12 point type, centered. Include email address and phone number for presenter only.
  5. For body text: Times New Roman font, 12 point type. Paragraphs at 6 point spacing. Length allowance: up to 3500 characters of body text (not to exceed single page length).
  6. If references are cited, use 10 point font size and abbreviated citation format as follows:
    Storey, B.C. et al., 1999, Journal of the Geological Society, London, v. 156, p. 659-671.
  7. Save document in Word format, identified with your surname + ISES.
    Example:   Siddoway_ISES.doc.  If the abstract contains symbols, scientific notation, or graphics, please also save the doc in .pdf format and send both versions via attachment.
  8. For body text:   Times New Roman font, 12 point type. Paragraphs at 6 point spacing. Length allowance: up to 3500 characters of body text (not to exceed single page length).
