Coordinator
Sexual Assault Response Coordinator
Heather Horton is the Sexual Assault Response Coordinator and directs the Sexual Assault Response and Prevention Program at Colorado College. She came to CC in March, 2005. Heather works directly with students seeking support and resources after an assault, to ensure that they have all the information they need to make decisions for themselves. She works with staff from TESSA to ensure that students can access these resources 24 hours a day, anytime during the academic year. Heather supervises the VAT, which is a group of CC students that provides education, information, support and referrals on issues of sexual violence and harassment. She also acts as a liaison to off-campus agencies and organizations, such as TESSA, Memorial Hospital, the Colorado Springs Police Department, and the El Paso County District Attorney. Additionally, Heather is working with the CC community to increase awareness and involvement in stopping sexual violence. She conducts educational workshops on a variety of topics such as causes and behaviors associated with sexual assault, the role of alcohol in sexual assault, drug facilitated sexual assault sexual harassment, domestic violence, healthy sexuality, consent, communication, and bystander intervention. Workshops are designed to be interactive and engaging. Topics can also be tailored to the audience. Heather welcomes you to drop by her office, or to call and/or email her anytime!
